Certainly could ... particularly as I believe both teams are owned by members of the same family!

Damien Bates is the sole owner of Leicester speedway, and is the joint owner of Sheffield along with Dudley Dentist Peter Driilman Mole.

Damien is not a Promoter at Leicester, the promoters are ex Sheffield owner and Promoter Neil Machin and Dave Darcy.

Are you keeping up.

Sheffield Promoters are Damien, Peter and Julie Reading, you may recognise Julie's name she is the lady who usually has a hand in helping riders in this country with benefit meetings and testimonials.

Still managing to keep up.

Although he is not listed Damien's brother Marc Bates it would appear from Press releases is joint Co Promoter at Leicester.

Marc also acts as stand-in Team Manager at Sheffield if or when Simon Stead is not available.

At this seasons fans forum at Sheffield Damien explained to us that Sheffield is his passion and main concern and Leicester was business, he has been very consistent on this since and its Sheffield that he talks about for Play Off meetings.

Still managing to keep up.

Josh Bates rides for Sheffield and he is the nephew to Damien and Marc.

You may notice that there are riders have the logo PBHS, and some have Drillaman racing (JPB is one of them) PBHS is the |Bates family business and they sponsor numerous riders not just one that ride for Sheffield they also are backers of the British Youth set up.

Drillaman Racing belongs to Peter Mole and he also backers riders not just Sheffield riders.

As the saying goes "Only in Speedway"

Make sure the facts are straight before you start drawing conclusions

Any excuse - no matter how flimsy!    :D     ;)

Had planned to go to the meeting at Leicester...........................but, annoyingly, we can't be in two places at the same time!

Don't ask me why but I cant help but think to myself that this result is probably exactly what both Clubs wanted - play offs in speedway - total waste of time!!

I'm not sure if it is what both teams want; it would not surprise me if Sheffield wanted to go up - however, they wouldn't want to go out with such a whimper! It's interesting that everyone thought the two leagues were fairly on a par this year but this result very much proves otherwise. The reserves make all the difference; the Premiership reserves would be able to hold down at least a middle order berth in the Championship whereas the Championship reserves are very much at National League level. The fact is, it simply doesn't work and I very much hope they disappear again for next season.

Have to disagree. Just because it hasnt worked this time is not a reason to stop it. Its a reason to find the right way which they clearly havent yet. Speedway is to full of trying something for one season and then letting it go. It needs to be built upon not knocked down. Only my opinion of course.
